International trade (ITD)

INTRODUCTION

International trade involves an increasing number of parties, including traders, banks, insurance companies and public institutions, both at national and international level. For each transaction in which goods are traded, they change hands, whether or not through an L/C with specific requirements. The goods can be offered anywhere in the world. The various parties need confirmation from an independent third party who provides them with assurance as to the conformity of the goods, through both physical checks and price evaluation.

We offer these services at every stage of the production and delivery process. These are adapted to your specific requirements where necessary. The most common are:

Certificate of Valuation

Required for the temporary import of goods in India and Pakistan, among others

Chartered Engineer Certificate

Required for the import of used machines into India, among others

General Trade Services

Guarantees the quality and integrity of your international transactions

SCOPE

These services apply to any shipment, air freight or sea freight where the goods fall outside of the existing PSI, COC or CBCA programs.

We listen to the customer's wishes and needs, take contractual and L/C obligations into account, and let our scope of inspection fit in as well as possible.

UNIQUE SELLING POINTS

The employees of Bureau Veritas, both inspectors and the contract coordinators, have years of experience in the inspection of goods in relation to international trade, and always think along with you how best to tackle the customer's challenge. In addition, an ITD certificate gives the buyer a confirmation that the ordered goods are actually the shipped goods.

INSPECTION OR CERTIFICATION PROCESS

In consultation with the customer and based on relevant documents, such as contracts, letters of credit and sales agreements, the desired Scope of Inspection is determined. Following this, the customer receives a quotation. Following the customer's acceptance of the quotation, the inspection process is started. The physical inspection according to the agreed scope forms a fixed part of this. Afterwards, the customer always receives a draft certificate for assessment/verification to ensure that the end result meets all the requirements. After any correction, the certificate will be issued. Nowadays, this can also be an e-certificate.

  • Visual verification/identification
  • Visual condition of the goods
  • Quantity (counting and/or based on weight)
  • Packaging
  • Shipping marks
  • Attending container loading
  • Sealing FCL's

ADDITIONAL SERVICES

An ITD certificate can be offered as an additional service if a standard COC or CBCA certificate does not contain sufficient information to meet the requirements in a Letter of Credit.
